COL (R) Jim Dingeman
Colonel James W. Dingeman graduated from the United States Army Military Academy, West Point, New York in 1948 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant, Infantry. He earned his Masters Degree in Business Administration from Syracuse University in 1960.
During the early part of his career, Colonel Dingeman served with the 351st Infantry Regiment in Trieste, Italy and as Asst PMS&T at Drexel Institute of Technology, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In Korea, he was assigned as Assistant G3 - Operations, 7th Infantry Divsion as Aide-de-Camp to CG I Corps (GP). Following graduation from command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, he attended Graduate school at Syracuse University. He then moved to the Washington D.C. area where his assignments included HQ MDW, Army Aide to Military Representative of the President, Executive Secretary Special Group (Counterinsurgency) on duty in the White House. During this latter assignment he was Special National Security Assistant to Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy.
Colonel Dingeman then served in Comptroller Division, Headquarters, U.S. Army Europe and as commander of the 2d Battallion (Ambl), 48th Infantry and 2d Battalion, 36th Infantry, 3d Armored Division (Spearhead) in Germany.
In Vietnam he served as Commander of the 2d Battalion (Ambl), 12th Cavalry, 1st Air Cavalry Division and as Assistant Chief of Staff G5 (CORDS) at HQ USARV.
Subsequent assignments include duty within Headquarters, Comabt Developments Command, Fort Belvior, Virginia, and as Commander, 4th Training Brigade (BCT) at the US Army Armor Center, Fort Knox, Kentucky.
Colonel Dingeman's assignments at Fort Benning included: Director, Leadership Department; Chief, Office of Management and Budget, US Army Infantry School; and as Comptroller, US Army Infantry Center.
Colonel Dingeman assumed his duties as Comptroller, US Army Support Command, Hawaii in May 1976.
Colonel Dingeman completed studies at the Command and General Staff College in 1959 and the National War College in 1968.
