Resounding Respect

For all the Veterans who served and
fought in the Vietnam War
I admire your bold display of patriotism
For all those who earned the Purple Heart
I thank you for the blood you shed
For those who returned home lame
I note the suffering you endure
For all those who gave their lives for freedom
I will always honor the memory of your ultimate sacrifice
For all the close friends who were lost in battle
I understand the grief and despair
For all those suffering from the heavy burdens of the war
I know your mental anguish
For all those who came face to face with death many times
I know your absolute fears
For the abuse of our bodies
I have physical and mental scars to testify
For all the MIAs never to return home
You will always be remembered
For those who suffered in POW camps
I honor your perseverance to survive
For those who endure the pain and stress caused by the silent killer Agent Orange
I grieve for your undeniable suffering
For all the heroes who saved lives
I know you served beyond your call of duty
For those spit upon and criticized on your return home
This nation honors your dedication of
the love of your country
For those who refused to serve
You must live with your own conscience
For the many protests against the war
I respect your rights under the First Amendment
For the support of our loved ones praying for our safe return
I thank you for your compassion, love and hope
For all those who served and fought in the Vietnam War
I admire your bold display of patriotism
