On June 18, 2009, a Memorial Service for three fallen Troopers of the 1/12th Cavalry Regiment was conducted at the 1st Cavalry Division Chapel, Fort Hood, Texas. In attendance were the parents of Specialist Jake Velloza, the father and sister of Specialist Jeremiah McCleery, the mother and four sisters of Specialist Shawn Sykes. In addition, other family members, friends and comrades of the fallen Troopers were present.
The 1/12th Cavalry rear detachment First Sergeant, SFC Kenneth Bach, conducted the Final Roll Call.
