Passing of a 2/12 Trooper

I recently learned of the early passing of S/Sgt Austeen
Sheriel LEE, 2nd Platoon Sgt D/2/12 who served in Vietnam in 1967-68. He died on
August 13, 2000 at the youthful age of 61. His entire life, when not in the
military as a Regular Army careerist, was in New Bern, NC.
His best known trait in Vietnam was that he carried a #10 can, which he utilized
as a cooking pot, to mix all kinds of C-rations with the hot sauces and spices
that he got from back home.
He was a great leader, well respected by his troops
and an outstanding mentor to me as a "green Lt".
