Mola with the 1st Cavalry patch & 12th
Cavalry Regiment Crest
While I was in Panama between tours in Vietnam (68-69), I contacted a
Kuna
Indian from the San Blas barrier islands off the Atlantic coast of Colon and asked him
to duplicate the 1st Cav large yellow patch. Using his Indian artistic skills, he
translated the patch into this image thereby creating a mola.
Roy Benson, CO Co B, 1/12th Cav 66-67
Mola
A colorful fabric panel of Central American origin, sewn with a reverse-
appliqué technique and used for decorative purposes, as on clothing or furniture
or as a wall hanging.
