Trooper Marinus Christensen

Trooper Manius Christensen - 1928

Marinus Christensen enlisted in 1927 and served with the 12th Cavalry at Fort Ringgold from 1927 until 1930. Later in 1930 he reenlisted in the US Army Air Corp at Randolph Field, TX. He was serving in Puerto Rico at the outbreak of WWII and made Master Sergeant about that time. After serving in the aircraft maintenance field in Puerto Rico, and a bomber group based in Central American protecting the Panama Canal, he was transferred to Pratt Air Force Base, KS and was assigned to the first B-29 Group just being formed. In April 1944 they were deployed to India where he became the Group Maintenance Chief. The Group subsequently deployed to Tinian in April 1945.

After the war he stay in the Air Force serving at San Bernadino AFB and retired in 1959. He then went into Civil Service and worked as an Missile Inspector at Vandenberg AFB. From the Horse Cavalry to Missiles - how about that for a career!
