The 3D BRIGADE, 1st
CAVALRY DIVISION (AIRMOBILE) and its assigned and attached units distinguished
themselves by extraordinary heroism while engaged in military operations in the
Que Son Valley and the coastal plain of Quang Tin Province, Republic of
Vietnam, during the period 1 October 1967 through 31 October 1967. Penetrating
into an area which the enemy had previously operated unchallenged, the officers
and men of the brigade established three major landing zones within the
timespan of a single week and initiated extensive operations against the
hostile forces. Although encountering heavy resistance from a resourceful and
determined foe, the skytroopers manifested
aggressiveness and fierce courage in carrying the fight to the enemy. With
unrelenting tenacity, professional competence and exacting teamwork, the
members of the various elements of the 3D BRIGADE, 1st CAVALRY
DIVISION (AIRMOBILE) inflicted heavy casualties on the enemy during numerous
bitter engagements and placed them entirely on the defensive. Despite the
adverse terrain and continued resistance, the personnel of the command
effectively sustained a massive coordinated push against secured enemy
positions and fortifications and devastated the hostile forces, rendering
destruction to all sizeable units and driving them from the area. Through their
exceptional bravery, determination and dedication to mission accomplishment,
they contributed immeasurably to the Free World effort against communist
aggression in the
General Orders Number 114
