The 2D BATTALION,
32D FIELD ARTILLERY and its assigned and attached units distinguished
themselves through extraordinary heroism while engaged in military operations
during the period 23 September 1971 through 25 October 1971 in Tay Ninh Province, Republic
of Vietnam. While
providing heavy artillery support to the ARVN III Corps and the Tay Ninh
Provincial Forces, the battalion firebases, along with deployed ARVN forces in
the area of operations, were attacked by elements of three NVA divisions. Although
hit by withering fire from all locations, the members of the battalion
delivered accurate and devastating fire on the enemy forces despite numerous
casualties suffered among themselves. The units gave unstinting support to all
ARVN forces in the III Corps and in Tay
Ninh Province.
The selfless, heroic action of this battalion was responsible for numerous
enemy casualties during the period and was the most notable and concrete
example of American support to the ARVN forces in the region. The extraordinary
heroism and devotion to duty displayed by the members of the 2D BATTALION, 32d
FIELD ARTILLERY and assigned and attached units are in keeping with the highest
traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon themselves,
their units, and the United States Army.
