1st of the 12th arrives in Korea

Greetings to the 12th Cavalry Family

As we move into 2014, how about some thoughts on what we 12th Cav Veterans are all about and some ideas from my hopefully active storehouse of ideas.
First: We are brothers in arms because we respect each other. We depended on each other to survive in combat. We are family. We care for each other. Very few can claim this.
Second: We are proud of our country. We answered the call of our country - to defend it at all costs - WE never asked why - WE just did it.
Third: We say "Welcome Home" to each other and mean it. We can "Stand Tall" and be proud of who we are.
And we of the 12th Cavalry have not forgotten the young Troopers of the active army.

Some one liners from my readings for your perusal.
* Try not to become a man only of success but rather to become a man of values.
*It's not what you gather, but what you scatter that tells what kind of life you have lived.
*Come trouble - we soldiers stand shoulder to shoulder as long as need be, not make talk of ancestors or how high they stand in the world. We accept each other on what they do NOW.
*We have nothing against a man being scared as long as he does what has to be done --and being scared often makes a better fighter of him.
*Do you know a really brave man who was reckless; perhaps not, because most of the reckless ones are dead.

I am proud to be a 12th Cav Trooper and to have served with such fine men - when people thank me for my service- I say I had good soldiers who did the fighting and they took care of me, and I meant it.

See you at our next Reunion in Chicago area. Watch the 1st Cav Saber for details- they are running late on info but we will pass it on as soon as we get it.
Best Always and God Bless
