Crossed Sabers

The Spring Edition of Crossed Sabers is available as a pdf.

Warmest greetings to the 12th Cavalry family

After the rather long winter with some bad weather,I am sure all of you are looking forward to Spring with cool days and nights. Hopefully you are also looking forward to the 1st Cav Reunion at Las Vegas on 8-12 June and our 12th Cav Reunion 7-11 Sept at Branson. Details in the Cav SABER and our Crossed Sabers paper. These two reunions are great opportunities for all to connect or reunite with their Combat brothers. If you have not contacted them before now, do it now. Remember this is the 50th Anniversary of the Nam War and we are not getting any younger.

It is interesting to note that our 12th Cav Association has overcome many roadblocks over the years by positive action and efforts of dedicated troopers. They were never distracted by some of these roadblocks: It's been done this way for many years so..."Why Change It", That idea leaves me cold, Let's think about it some more; This isn't the right time for this action. There is no doubt about the fact that the "12th Cavalry Association " leads the way on doing good deeds and helping the Active Duty troops. When you think about it, we put out a paper. have a Web Site, put out a Membership Directory, have great input to the 1st Cav "Saber: and host our own Branson Reunion. It takes a lot to good men to make it go and we have them. SO STAND TALL AND BE PROUD, YOU 12TH CAV TROOPERS.

Memorial day is coming in May; A day when we all should remember those fellow combat brothers who did not come home to enjoy their later years.

I will always remember that young man who asked " WHY ME?' I gave my best answer hoping it was some comfort and eased his pain. I will always remember this incident and have said a prayer for him some 40 plus years.

On a positive note- our 12th Cav Association. is alive and well, with great leaders who make it go- like Al Freeland,Doug Warden, Ken Howser, Dave Wenzel, Dennis Rasmussen and that work-horse, Thomas Crabtree. with add on comments from the Honorary Sgt Major- John Berger and I. These men were leaders in Combat and lead us today.

Proud to be a 12th CAV Trooper.

God Bless and Keep well.

Jim Dingeman
Honorary Colonel of the 12th Cavalry Regiment
